A family tradition

Our products are found in family houses, prestigious villas, historic buildings and châteaux. We give every project individual care and precise workmanship, so the result is a floor or a table top that will serve for generations.

In more than 25 years we have completed hundreds of projects not only in the Czech Republic but also in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. Alongside our own manufacture we provide expert fitting by experienced craftsmen, which gives us control over quality from the first board to the finished installation.

Quercus Classic Floors stands for Czech craft, honest materials and solutions that stand the test of time.

A love of wood

The natural beauty of wood. Craft that lets it show.

Quercus Classic Floors continues a long family tradition of working solid oak, founded by Václav Karkoš senior. Today the next generation carries it on with respect for honest craft, quality materials and timeless design.

We are based in Karlštejn, where both our workshop and showroom are located. We specialise in solid oak parquet and table tops made from carefully selected Czech oak from the forests of the Kinský family. We believe natural wood represents a value that lasts decades — through its durability, its unique grain and its ability to give an interior character and warmth.

How we work

From log to finished floor

We are not a warehouse. Every job goes through the same three steps, and each one decides how the floor will look in ten years.

  1. Selecting the oak
    01

    Choosing the timber

We pick the oak board by board and dry it slowly, even though it takes longer. Fast drying tears the wood inside — on a finished floor it shows only years later, when nothing can be done.

  2. Made to measure
    02

    Made to measure

We compose grain and dimensions for the actual room. The layout is drawn so no narrow off-cuts are left at the walls and the pattern lines up with the axis of the room.

  3. Laying and finishing
    03

    Laying and finishing

We lay with our own crew and finish the surface on site. The result is one continuous plane, with no visible seams between boards.

Our showroom

A sample the size of your palm tells you nothing about a floor

In Karlštejn we have a showroom where samples cover whole walls and floors. You will see both the grain and the depth of the finish and compare patterns side by side.
